Sleepless in Melbourne
Hi all, just wanted to give everyone an update on my boy wonder:) Gator is doing well, not much of an appetite for his dog food but quite hungry for anything I am cooking:) I am still sleeping with him camped out on the floor while his daddy is snuggling Charlie & Hurley in our bed, I wonder if I will ever get my spot back, lol:) Gator has still been restless all night and needs me to hold his hand to fall asleep:) I went back to work Monday and it was the hardest thing for me to leave him alone!! I left the house @ 7am and Todd was able to make it home by 1pm and all was well, thank the good lord:) We have the same arrangement today and I just got the call for Todd that all is well again today and I am so relieved:) I hope and pray he stays on this path and does not have much of a setback!! I did almost have a heart attack last night as Gator attempted to scratch his left ear with his phantom leg, I guess out of habit but I must say I thought he was having a seizure!! We do have one big regret that I thought I would share with you:( We have a fake fire hydrant in our back yard as a silly joke that Gator loved to lift his lag and tinkle on… We never took a photo or video of him doing so and he was a left leg lifter:(
Well, till tomorrow!! Love & Licks to all our new friends!!
Sounds like he is doing well. Give that paw a little extra squeeze from me and Abby!

keep up the good work gator!! sorry about your fire hydrant, but we’ve heard of other boy tripawds that learned to stand on two legs with a ‘phantom leg lift’… hugs to all!!

All things considered sounds like he is doing great! Tri pug Maggie lost her left rear leg and did the ‘air scratch’ for awhile. She would put her chin out and her little nub would move- she seemed puzzled that she wasn’t getting any relief from the itch. It was funny and sad at the same time ;). It became my job to scratch the left ear and chin when needed. She stopped doing the air scratch at some point, I can’t remember when- but I kept my job as left side scratcher!

I love that he falls asleep when you hold his paw!
Tate still does the air scratch, sometimes just to get Daddy to give him one of his incredible bruiser head rubs. You can tell because he’s eyeballing Rick instead of staring off into space.

Keep up the good work Gator! Those phantom face scratches tug at your heart strings.

Hang in there Gator and family! You are doing great! We’re in Tallahassee (Go Noles!) We don’t get down your way too often, but we are planning to go to the Morris Animal Foundation walk in January in Ft. Lauderdale. We should get together and have a pawty! 😉
Hang in there! Life will get back to “normal” soon!
